Screen distance & tilt alerts โ we're here to help
Why does EyeGuard need camera permission?
The camera is the only reliable way to measure the distance between your face and the screen. EyeGuard uses face detection to estimate that distance in real time. No images are captured, saved, or sent anywhere โ everything is processed locally on your device.
Will this drain my battery?
EyeGuard is designed to minimize battery impact. In Background Mode (Android), the camera is checked every 5 seconds rather than continuously. If no violation is detected for 1โ2 minutes, the check interval automatically extends to 15โ30 seconds. In Foreground Mode (app is open), checks run more frequently for accurate real-time feedback.
I see a persistent notification. How do I remove it?
The persistent notification is shown by Android whenever a Foreground Service is running. It disappears automatically when you turn off protection in the app. To stop protection, open EyeGuard and toggle the protection switch to off.
EyeGuard is not alerting me when I use other apps on Android. What's wrong?
Make sure you have granted the Display Over Other Apps permission. Go to Settings โ Apps โ EyeGuard โ Display Over Other Apps and enable it. Also ensure that Background Mode is selected in the app's operating mode settings.
Why does Background Mode not work on iOS?
iOS restricts camera access and screen overlays for apps running in the background. This is an operating system limitation, not a bug. On iOS, EyeGuard provides protection only while the app is open and in the foreground. We recommend keeping EyeGuard open when watching video or browsing within the app.
EyeGuard can't detect my face. What should I do?
Make sure you are in a well-lit environment โ low light reduces face detection accuracy. Ensure the front camera is unobstructed and pointing toward your face. Try adjusting your position so your face is fully visible in the camera's field of view.
What are the recommended distance and angle settings?
For most adults, a minimum distance of 30 cm and a tilt angle range of 30ยฐโ75ยฐ is a good starting point. For children, consider a more conservative minimum of 35โ40 cm. You can adjust these thresholds at any time in the app's settings screens.
Does EyeGuard collect or store my personal data?
No. EyeGuard performs all processing on-device and stores only your configuration settings locally. No camera data, face data, or sensor data is transmitted to any server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
